Research and Development

Perhaps one of the most enjoyable aspects of our business is problem solving. UniTech Services Group's ongoing research and development in the following areas has earned particular attention:
  • Our flagship garment, ProTech 2000TM (and its new version, ProTech Plus), has so many unique features, from its micro denier synthetic yarns with ultra-tight weaves to its exceptional mesh ventilation, that it is now trademarked and patented in the United States and Europe.
  • ENS has recently been awarded the exclusive rights to an EPRI-developed DFD and DFDx advanced chemical decontamination process . This process provides economical decontamination of closed loop systems with hard-to-reach internal surfaces. For more information, download our DFDx literature.
  • After extensive research into fabric weaves and weights, UniTech added the Ultra Wipe decontamination wipers to its decon accessories line. Ultra Wipe is composed of a synthetic microfiber that promotes very high absorbency as well as excellent contaminant release during laundering.
  • RF Protective Clothing
The UniTech Personnel RF program includes a field and lab-proven protective garment system for industrial RF protection. Our garments represent an excellent alternative for accessing RF radiation areas that exceed safe unprotected levels. UniTech garments also minimize propensity to arcing, a field hazard that OSHA cautions is a serious problem present in traditional conductive fabrics.
In addition to providing RF protective clothing to the U.S. broadcast and wireless communications industries, UniTech is now expanding our RF business within military markets. UniTech has worked closely with the Air Warfare Division of the U.S. Navy to develop high frequency, ESD and lightning protection for the large "TOW" anti-tank missile program. The sophisticated electronics within the missile can be damaged from electromagnetic radiation, electrostatic discharge, and atmospheric conditions. UniTech developed a cost-effective textile cover that would offer very high protection and withstand the harsh military environment.
